The Gospels Room Liesborn

Exhibition space and scenography

After an odyssey of many decades, the Liesborn Gospels have returned to their Westphalian home. In order to display this cultural treasure, we created a specially tailored exhibition space in the former abbey. Dimly lit, with an almost sacral ambience, it allows the ceremonial and liturgical significance of the medieval Gospel book to be experienced without compromising its function as a museum. The design thus demonstrates an innovative approach to pre-modern art, in that it refrains from espousing religious content, but nonetheless addresses the religious dimension of art.
