We know that living on the river is integral to the lives of the Yangzhou people. The project was very challenging for the designers because of its location next to the ancient 2,500-year-old canal, the history of the site, and Jiangnan's cultural landscape. However, the designers never stopped trying to construct a dialogue with the canal. They spent a great deal of time on-site and did a lot of thinking. Following the ancient wisdom of gardening, they drew inspiration from the unique local gardens and the gardens of Yangzhou, capturing their essence to give modern Yangzhou people a landscape with poetic and artistic meaning.
