The Lindemann Performing Arts Center

Performing Arts Center

The Lindemann Performing Arts Center pushes the boundaries of architectural and acoustical innovation to inspire new forms of artmaking across music, theater, dance, and media. Its shoebox-shaped main hall is a radical new theater typology whose six surfaces modulate physically and sonically to create five preset stage-audience configurations—media cube, recital hall, end-stage theater, concert hall, and flat floor—and an array of secondary modes. The Lindemann’s revolutionary flexibility, enabled by its mechanized gantry, lift, reflector, and riser systems, makes it both a robust academic tool and the world’s most automated performance hall.

iF Gold Statement

This performing arts center won Gold for its extraordinary acoustic complexity within a deceptively simple form. Flexible configurations, sustainable strategies, and a striking architectural gesture create a building that performs as brilliantly as the artists inside it. Take a bow!
