The Singing Bottle

Pill Packaging & Dispenser for Children

The normal process of administering medication to children is fraught with problems. Most children resist taking their pills due to their size and taste or simply because they are being forced to do something they don’t understand. The Singing Bottle is a pill packaging & dispenser concept designed for children aged 6 to 10. Each of the 14–21 personalized pills in a treatment course is attached to a paper card strip, with an NFC (near field communication) tag attached to every second strip. The NFC tags contain music or stories that play when the strip is inserted into the bottle’s integrated audio slot.

JURY STATEMENT

An innovative concept of pill packaging and dispenser for children. The form/style, functionality, mechanism, assembly, and color scheme of this product were clearly designed with children in mind.

WINNER STATEMENT

This award offers us a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about this issue and foster collective reflection on how we, as designers, can enhance the seamless integration of frontier technologies into people's everyday lives.
