The Time Loop
Art installation
Poly South China Holding
In the city of Foshan which is located along a line of latitude 22.3 degrees north, an elliptic time loop has been installed. As a giant time measurement device, the loop rotates every one hour; and with an hour hand, the water surface turns around every 24 hours, showing the local time. On the surface of the loop are added calibrations of minute and the 12 signs on the zodiac. On the ground, a thin water surface, there are three time measurement calibrations: UTC, old Chinese time, and GMT. Together with the natural elements of light, shadow and mist, the loop creates a serene and mysterious space.
