The Youth Activity Center Renovation in Miyun

The designers retained the original factory buildings and transformed them into a youth activity center, comprising youth education camps, classrooms, a restaurant, and accommodations. How to reactivate an old industrial site that lacks a rich heritage and distinctive spatial features? Instead of creating a unified style, the design emphasizes the relationship between individual buildings, the architectural complex, and its surroundings. Abstract geometric components were applied to create a surreal setting for children, who are encouraged to explore possibilities of geometric shapes, conceive stories of adventure, play, and have fun in various ways, fostering their development.
