Tower HMI

Interface air traffic control

The unique digital human machine interface (HMI) supports the local-controller in the aerodrome tower of a busy hub airport in communicating safely and efficiently with the pilots of the arriving and departing aircrafts. This is achieved by a proper design according to the information needs and an innovative integration of the flight plan and sequencing information which is concisely presented on a 21 “WACOM pen controlled touch screen” in a multimodal way. This HMI, jointly developed by DFS and “delair ATS”, was partly funded by the BMWi and will be introduced at the ATC towers in Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin.
