Translator Shirt

Film and booklet

The translator shirt is a garment that helps you to discover the world; to be ”native” wherever you end up, to start conversation without hesitating. This shirt displays your spoken words translated into the language of choice on your chest. You won't need to be afraid anymore to travel to foreign countries, go to the most advanced business meetings or orderyour favourite tacos at this fast food place where nobody seems to understand your broken English. Display fibres, which display the text, are woven into the chest area and onto the sleeves. On the shoulders and on the back of the shirt photovoltaic fibres transform sunlight into energy and send it to battery fibers at the side of the shirt. The whole voice recognition and translation is handled by a small label on the chest. This label contains a microphone for speech recognition, a chip for translation, memory for a dictionary, a circuit for the display and a touchscreen for activating the translation.
