Retail shop

This is a Japanese confectionery shop located in Kyoto, Japan. The client makes traditional Kyoto confections used in tea ceremonies. The tea ceremony, which uses Kyoto confectionery, is held in Japan's unique interior space called tea room. We wanted as many people as possible to feel closer to the culture of tea ceremony, so we designed this space with the Kaishi Paper(Japanese paper) used in tea ceremonies as its motif. The framework of the Shoji(paper sliding door) with its back lit up, the pattern on the side panels of the display stand, and the latticework on the checkout counter are all unified to the same size as the Kaishi Paper.
