This kindergarten and Nursery in Yamanashi,Japan is located in a vast natural environment of over 10,000 m2, where the educational policy of 'play to the fullest in the forest, in rain or snow, even covered with mud' can be embodied. Taking advantage of the site environment, the layout plan avoids existing trees, and the excavated soil from the construction work is re-used to create an undulating hill for children to play on. This has led to a reduction in CO2 emissions due to the removal of overburden, and the environmentally conscious planning has become play and education, nurturing the children who will be responsible for the future.
