Every day, thousands of sharks are being torturously murdered worldwide solely for their dorsal fins, unfortunately, still a popular gourmet delicacy. Robbed of their fins, the sharks are frequently thrown back – still alive – into the sea, where they die a painful death. Shark project is an internationally active organization for the protection of sharks. No one is closer to the element of water – the natural habitat of sharks – than divers. To win this huge and closely networked community for active shark protection, the world’s first underwater ecological memorial was installed in the depths at the world's most popular diving locations.
