Kura
Atelier MAR
In traditional Japanese cities, 'Kura' structures provided fire resistance, earthquake resilience, insulation, and humidity control through 'thick earthen walls', balancing practicality with a dignified aesthetic. We’ve embraced the principles of the 'kura', learned construction techniques from mountain, and through 'a block of wood,' propose a fulfilling urban life that flourishes alongside the richness of nature, aiming to create a sustainable landscape in Japanese cities.Another key aspect is our contribution to the circular economy, integrating local timber, mountain restoration, material reuse, and promoting environmental awareness.
