Bicycle

In times of megacities and climate change, designers have to come up with new concepts for emission-free transport. The first smart Bike Urban Rush adds boost power to the front wheel after each stop in the urban stop and go traffic. Recuperation is provided by breaking with the front motor that charges the capacitor to create an autonomous electric system. This lightweight and efficient bike brings you safely through the traffic flow, so you can enjoy the real cycling experience, instead of being chased by fast-accelerating cars. A full all-wheel-drive bicycle for more safety and for experiencing a free ride.

JURY STATEMENT

The concept for an e-supported bicycle for Canyon is executed very professional from idea to perfect and exactly describing 3D visualizations. A very aesthetically integrated over all product design. The technical e-support comes from a very long life cycle capacitator (10 years) charged by brake energy for easy starts. This helps to keep design slim without technological drive chain or energy storage complexity. Very nice integration of technical components , Canyon typical clean assembly details at frame / steering unit, lamps, fork, and seat post, cranks, wheel hubs, etc.. Basic and easy smart phone based interface for navigation. The designer is taking full advantage of this concept to convince with a very balanced design between attraction and product value. On such a high level that the design concept is probably ready for production.

WINNER STATEMENT

I am very proud to be one of the winners in the iF STUDENT DESIGN AWARD 2016. It feels great to get honored, especially for this project, which was the most personal and challenging project in my young career. I am willing to put all my power in future projects in order to make a change.
