Bike concept for elderly people

The objective was to develop solutions aimed at preserving and encouraging older people in mobility and independence. The focus in this was on cycling mobility, since this has a strong preventative effect in relation to the lifestyle diseases of today. Especially for older people, this effect has a bearing on mobility, an active lifestyle and social participation. The central hypothesis when working on a new type of bicycle suited to the demands and requirements of older people was this: stability and visibility in road traffic contribute to increased safety when cycling.

JURY STATEMENT

This design provides an elegant solution to support people who want to carry groceries in their bike bags. Side wheels that fold out when the bags are filled support the bike rider when carrying a heavy load, which could otherwise interfer with the rider's balance. Particularly great for the elderly!

WINNER STATEMENT

I am very lucky to be on of the winners of the iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD 2017. I would like to thank all participants.
