Uzurano Museum
Exhibitions of Public Facilities
Kasai City
Uzurano Town in Kasai City is home to the remains of an approximately 1.2 km runway, which was part of a former airfield built at the end of World War II as Japan’s war situation deteriorated. Air-raid shelters and other remnants of the war can also be found nearby. With these war remains as part of the facility itself, the Uzurano Museum was established atop the runway as a hub to communicate the town’s war history. We have integrated the runway, the sky, the structure, and the displays to portray the history of Uzurano, and to communicate what happened here and the memories of war to future generations.
