Iittala Group Oy Ab

Designers Elina and Klaus Aalto had an idea to create an esthetically pleasing container, that does not look too much like a container and lends itself for a variety of uses, including serving as a stackable piece of furniture. Vakka’s shape follows the concept of functionality. The plywood boxes make everyday storage a beautiful part of home decoration. They help organize items in any room and can be stacked to form small side tables. The colors ensure the easy identification of boxes and their contents. In addition to plywood, Vakka is also available in white and in two sizes.

iF GOLD STATEMENT

The Vakka boxes combine the functional with the aesthetic and, with their natural materials and rounded shapes invite touch. In the hands of Elina and Klaus Aalto, the practical boxes have become elements for personal combination and expression. Vakka shows, that even small details contribute to creating useful and beautiful storage systems for customized home or office interiors. Both in plywood and in white, the Vakka boxes refer to the Nordic sense of simplicity. Besides, the boxes cater to the needs of smaller homes, where furniture needs to be multi-functional and thus the design incorporates social and democratic considerations.
