Medical-saw-system

VARUS is a saw-system for surgeons. Certain positions of the hip joint can be corrected by cutting out a wedge from the thighbone. The current common surgical technique is imprecise because the surgeon injects wires into the bone and tries to define the right saw- angle. Until now the exact sawing is the difficulty. The VARUS saw-system takes remedial action: an angle gauge is fixed to the bone, which will lead the oscillating saw blade to the prearranged angle. The results are a higher precision, less stress for the patient, shorter surgery and reduced costs. The jury: this product encourages design in the medical field.
