Young girls quit sports at twice the rate of boys due to factors like body image, low confidence, and more. Sports Illustrated knew that girls aren’t lacking potential - they’re lacking proof. Proof that the challenges they face are normal and that others have faced them too - and kept going. Since girls don’t hear enough about sportswomen, Sports Illustrated decided to bring its detailed coverage about female athletes directly to them. It turned real stories of sportswomen overcoming struggles into massive wallpapers for school gyms and locker rooms - turning places that girls associate with insecurities into spaces that provide reassurance.
