Warakatsu! Café: Laughter and Health Campaign

Public Health & Laughter Awareness Campaign

Warakatsu! Café is a design-driven community health campaign that integrates laughter, communication, and preventive medicine for Japan’s aging society. Developed through collaboration between Chiba University, Sumida City, and local partners, the project transforms laughter into a medium for well-being. By combining physical activity, rakugo storytelling, and social dialogue, it creates opportunities for joyful interaction and mental engagement. Through design, the campaign reconnects people, culture, and health—showing that laughter itself can become a form of preventive care.
