WDCH Dreams

Audio-visual performance

With WDCH Dreams, Refik Anadol worked with the Los Angeles Philharmonic to celebrate its history and explore its future. Anadol and his team developed a unique machine intelligence approach to the LA Phil digital archives, allowing unprecedented access to the orchestra’s past in non-traditional ways. This public art installation projected the transformed archival materials onto the exterior of Frank Gehry’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, giving consciousness to the architecture. The use of machine intelligence sets architecture in motion, creates synergistic symphonies, and helps us find new meaning in our memories.

iF Gold Statement

Transforming the Walt Disney Concert Hall into an explosion of music and light, the WDCH Dreams performance shows machine learning at its best. Frank Gehry's architecture is brilliantly set in motion, creating access to the orchestra’s visual and acoustic DNA. A simply mind-blowing project.
