Architecture and interior design

Situated in a chaotic, rundown neighborhood, the hotel strives to make a mark via a full-scale upgrade. The client wished for a new approach, one which modernizes the area while respecting tradition. A perforated timber cladding wraps the building core and responds to the context. Wood connects the outdoor to the interior spaces and sets the general tone of the building. The façade provides another layer of massing and navigates the transition of interior to exterior, refracting both daylight and artificial light. The color red subtly enriches the architecture, interior art and lighting fixtures.
