Wheelchair-Accessibility Map Application

WheeLog! is working on building the biggest platform on wheelchair accessibility in the world through a map application and its website. We aim to create a society where people with reduced mobility can going out and traveling. Our application is a user-generated map where users can share experiences and create virtual guideposts to enable others to prepare for their trips in advance. It is currently available in more than 10 languages and has gained over 100000 downloads and 30000 users. In addition, we regularly organize online and offline events to help people without disabilities become more aware of the accessibility issues around them.

JURY STATEMENT

Accessibility in buildings for people with disabilities has always been an issue for improvement in many countries. Not every government is able to provide a friendly environment for them. Hence, many wheelchair users feel discriminated. This project provides an efficient way for this marginalized group to help each other. Especially the virtual map is a wonderful way to empower them since it provides information from the user’s point of view. Additionally, the map is accessible from almost everywhere around the world.

WINNER STATEMENT

We were thrilled to see we received the prize because we want to make the world a better place for wheelchair users. We plan on using the prize to organize more elaborate online events in order to stay safe while spreading our mission.
