Yimeng Field Practice

Picture book

Shanghai Children's Book Research Center

The Yimeng Field Practice, a teaching program launched by Li Aixia, took place in the summer of 2018 in the village of Yimeng, “a piece of sacred land and red fertile soil”. This book is a co-creation by Li, nine of her college students and twenty-two children from Yimeng, presented in the form of picture book two years after the end of the program. It unveils Li’s teaching philosophy and practice that education is a win-win process, presents an opportunity to think about how to integrate art into teaching in rural areas and how to educate children and adults separately, and reflects on the fixed way of thinking about teaching and learning.
