A major barrier to improving bedside neurosurgical procedure accuracy w/ image guidance technologies is the lack of a rapidly deployable, real-time registration & tracking system for a moving patient. Zeta is a computer vision-based navigation system for real-time patient & surgical tool tracking during outpatient & emergent procedures, starting w/ external ventricular drain (EVD) placement. Due to its emergent nature, this procedure is often performed freehand, & may result in imprecise catheter placement. Zeta enables precise catheter placement in the brain of patients suffering from a life-threatening build-up of fluid & pressure increase.
