Residence

In Tokyo, collective housing represents nearly half of the building stock and has a defining influence on the city’s identity. Yet façades are often dominated by balconies and equipment, leaving the urban landscape fragmented. The Shinjuku Gyoemmae Residence proposes an alternative: a coherent façade that restores order to the street and brings beauty and harmony to urban life. Beyond architecture, it creates a framework where loft units bring openness to daily living and shared spaces encourage interaction, establishing a new model of collective housing as a civic contribution to the city.
