Exhibition

The Paper Revolution: Soviet Graphic Design during the 1920s and 1930s

Date
Wednesday, 8 November 2017
Location
Bröhan-Museum, Berlin Charlottenburg
Country
Germany

This show is dedicated to a particularly interesting chapter in the design history of the twentieth century: early Soviet graphic design. During the first decade of its existence, Soviet Russia, a young revolutionary state, needed a visual language all its own. Inspired by the dynamics of political and social change, a new artistic movement developed: constructivism. Posters, journals, and book covers became important propaganda tools for the new political regime.
