The TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards represent the significant growth and abundant creativity of the bicycle industry. The competition aims to recognize outstanding innovation and encourage companies to explore cutting-edge technologies and develop high-quality products. The winners will be prominently featured during the TAIPEI CYCLE 2026 exhibition and gain significant recognition from the global bicycle industry and R&D community.

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA) continue their partnership with iF Design to co-host the awards and help shape progress in the bicycle industry.

Awards Logo

The winners will receive the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards 2026 logo and may use the logo for promotional purposes. The best entry will receive the prestigious TAIPEI CYCLE Gold Award. The Gold Award – Startup and the Gold Award - Green Prize will be granted to selected startups and products excels in green purposes.

Awards Ceremony

All winners will be invited to receive certificates/trophies on stage during the 2026 TAIPEI CYCLE SHOW.

Exhibition

All award-winning products will be exhibited at the TAIPEI CYCLE 2026. Experts will provide guided tours and recommendations to buyers and visitors, enhancing the matchmaking between award-winning products and buyers.

Online Exhibition

All winning entries will be presented in the TAIPEI CYCLE official website as well as 'www.ifdesign.com' –the largest design platform worldwide.

For your press, social media and marketing communications: We offer product introduction videos and text templates to support your press and social media activities. Use them for your marketing campaigns or internal communications. Get inspired by the examples and maximize the effectiveness for your marketing strategies.

Winner Campaign

During the exhibition, we will launch an intensive PR campaign to ensure the award winners receive significant attention from both domestic and international media. We will actively seek optimal exposure for them. Information about the winning entries will be featured on promotional materials and distributed by the organizers to key media, buyers, and visitors during the show.

iF Design Shop

Winners will have the opportunity to exclusively sell their products through the iF design shop in Taiwan, subject to mutual agreement.

Eligibility for the Final Jury of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2027

All winners of the TAIPEI CYCLE d&i awards 2026 will be eligible to participate in the iF DESIGN AWARD 2027 without registration fee and will also automatically advance to the iF Final Jury.

01 Bicycles

Bikes without e-drives, including racing, MTB, urban, road, folding bike and cargo bikes, etc.

02 Parts and components

Frames, handlebars, stems, forks, tires, rims, bubs, wheel sets, cranksets, chains, derailleurs, brakes, saddles and paddles, electric motors, battery unit, chargers, energy management systems, etc.

03 Cycling accessories

Cycling computers, water bottles, bells, pumps, lights, locks, fenders, paints, tools, children’s seats, bike racks, bike travel cases, cycling clothes, shoes, cycle glasses, gloves, helmets, bags, goggles and sport braces etc.

04 E-bikes

Bikes with motors orwith a battery-powered assist that comes via pedaling, for different purpose of usage.

05 Micro-mobility

E-Scooter and LEVs up to 25km/h etc.

06 Smart cycling services

Cycling training, Bike-sharing services, software solutions, IoT applications, cloud services, big data analytics, and logistics and transportation management services/devices, etc.

Judging Process


Preselection:

  • Based on the five evaluation criteria, the jurors evaluate each entry.

  • The top 30 percent of products qualify for the Final Jury.

Final Jury:

  • The Final Jury gathers to examine the qualified entries.

  • They select the TAIPEI CYCLE gold award, the Gold Award – Startup and the Gold Award - Green Prize winners.

  • Task: Does the design achieve what it sets out to do?

  • Relevance: Is the design relevant?

  • Fit for purpose: Is the idea appropriate?

  • Emotional appeal: Does the design engage the target group?

  • Execution: How is it made?

  • Aesthetics: Why does it look the way it does?

  • Usability: Is it easy to use?

  • Efficiency: Does it work well?

  • User Benefit: Does it serve the user?

  • Innovation: Is it new?

  • Brand Differentiation: Does it fit to the brand?

  • Social Benefit: Does it benefit society?

  • Sustainability: Is it sustainable?

The 2026 Jury

An independent, international jury consisting of experts with diverse industry backgrounds and extensive cycling experience will evaluate each entry based on criteria developed jointly by iF Design and international design experts. The evaluation criteria include Idea, Form, Function, Differentiation, and Sustainability. Additionally, a sustainability expert will participate in the judging process: Yu-Hsuan Kang is the Circular Supply Chain Innovator of Fairphone from the Netherlands and will provide us with professional advice on all sustainability matters. The jury members include:

Chris Lintaman is a lifelong cyclist with racing experience across Asia, Europe, and North America. Deeply involved in the bicycle industry, his career spans performance testing and product innovation. With a background in designing high-performance cycling gear and holding several technology patents, he now focuses on creating cycling shoes that merge engineering precision with rider intuition—products shaped by real-world racing experience and a relentless pursuit of performance.

Johanna Loomis is the Industrial Design Lead at Vay in Hamburg, a start-up developing innovative mobility solutions for society and the planet. She focuses on user needs for remote-controlled car-sharing vehicles and creates distinctive, branded experiences with multidisciplinary teams. Since 2010, Johanna has led strategic and interdisciplinary projects across B2B, FMCG, and B2C sectors, including cycling-related work that blends engineering insight with brand-led design to translate rider needs into user-focused solutions.

Johnson Wu has been working hard for decades in automotive industry, responsible for product developing and electric car planning after graduated from Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Chiao Tung University. Currently, he works as the general manager at CHC, aiming to lead CHC developing intelligent manufacturing, MIT bicycle system, talent cultivation, and international cooperation with his extensive experience.

Kris Verstockt is the founder and senior tactician of CRE8 Design, leading its strategy, conceptual development, and design direction. With over 25 years of experience, he has guided CRE8 to deliver user-centered solutions and earn 128 international awards, including multiple recognitions among iF Design’s Top 50 Design Studios. Originally from Belgium, Kris studied design in Antwerp and London, moved to Taiwan in 1994, and founded CRE8 in 2001. He has also served as a juror for iF Design Award and COMPUTEX d&i awards.

Moses Hu is an Industrial Designer at Accell Group, where he focuses on delivering innovative and market-driven product solutions for the bicycle industry. Prior to this, he worked at the renowned Dutch bicycle brand VanMoof, specializing in the development of urban e-bikes. Driven by a passion for industrial design and extensive experience in the cycling sector, his work spans multiple product categories and has received recognition from numerous world-renowned design awards.

Sophia Shih holds a master’s degree in engineering and joined Giant Group as the company’s first female engineer dedicated to Liv product design. Combining resilience with attentive problem-solving, she continually pursues innovation and improvement. Over the years, she has grown into a determined leader and now serves as Chief Engineer at Giant Group, where she continues to drive product innovation and embrace new challenges.

Torgny Fjeld holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Trondheim and later studied Transport Vehicle Design in Barcelona. He began his career at Mazda before joining Cannondale Bicycles, where he led industrial design for five years. He later moved to BMW as Creative Director for Exterior Detail Design and then joined BMC as Design Director, building a design team and developing a new strategy. Since 2019, he has led his own studio, FJELD, working with brands such as Colnago, Fizik, Cilo, KOO, Simpel, Pegasus, and their startup BØK.

Yu-Hsuan Kang holds a Master’s degree in Materials and Nanophysics from Linköping University, Sweden. With nearly ten years of experience across curation, rural education, and polymer testing, she combines her background in materials science with a passion for sustainability to promote circular practices. She is currently the Circular Supply Chain Manager at Fairphone, leading recycled-material sourcing and thought-leadership projects for the world’s first ethical modular smartphone.
