97.04 - Natural marble spa
Marble spa and soap
We may associate spas with marble, but only as a building material, not as part of a treatment. This project, in collaboration with the traditional Italian marble manufacturer Lasa Marmo, explores the potential for recycling and reprocessing marble residues. The result is a set of luxury spa products that play with our perceptions of waste and provoke critical awareness of the waste management challenges related to construction. The fine marble powder inside the soap acts as a natural exfoliant while other stone residues act as massaging and cooling aids.
This project gives a second life to marble residues while raising awareness about the issue of waste. There is poetry in so dramatically transforming how a material is used. A very elegant solution to a messy problem.
WINNER STATEMENTWe feel intense joy and exhilaration to receive the iF DESIGN STUDENT AWARD. The opportunity to show our work to a global audience of like-minded people leaves us proud and awestruck. It's a great honor!
