All children throughout the world have the same need and desire for education; however, the opportunities given to them are not the same. Children in developing counties and children of low-income families in wealthier societies have far fewer opportunities. This furniture design, with a whiteboard mounted on the back of a bed to save space allows children to study without worrying about paper and pens. A soft board, which supports pressure-sensitive writing, can be used for children who cannot afford pens. The functions of a desk and a bookcase are also included in the design of the bed, creating a dedicated learning space for a child.


This multi-functional item of children’s furniture is designed for sleeping, study and some social activities. The target group is low-income children and the design approach is based on flexibility for different uses. The main material is wood, which is healthy and environmentally friendly. The bed has the potential to be adapted to further design approaches. This design responds to the following UN Sustainable Development Goals: 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).


When I received the "iF winner" e-mail, I could not believe it. I feel very proud. My design is intended for all children who live in relatively poor countries and circumstances, so I really hope it can help make dreams come true.
