The Ikonothek is an internet compatible database containing pictures and relating material. It primarily addresses art and history classes. The aim of the project is to build a database for classes holding 100 key pictures which are visual representations of their own time and from which students can gain a lot of knowledge. Main focus of the selection is on 20th century art. Students get the option to navigate between the icons and to add own items. Creating own virtual catalogues, commenting and linking the items, and different access options enhance students interaction with the icons. Teachers also have additional access to a class management function and the option to integrate own and interdisciplinary projects.
