Learning centres for Rohingya refugee children

Rohingya refugees living in Bangladesh are forced to study the Myanmar curriculum in a language they don’t understand. Children on the Edge creates exciting visual and verbal video lessons in the Rohingya language so that over 7,500 children and their teachers can finally understand their textbooks, opening up a world of experience and learning for children confined to refugee camps. Children also produce video newsletters to communicate with their peers beyond the camp in an online platform named 'Moja Kids'.

JURY STATEMENT

This program is addressing a significant need for Rohingya children to have access to learning content in their own language, preserving their cultural identity. Additionally, the opportunity for children to participate in creating content gives them dignity and much-needed hope.

WINNER STATEMENT

Thank you so much for recognizing our work to ensure that thousands of Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh can access meaningful education, in a language they actually understand. This support means so much, and is invaluable to a small charity like us, who are constantly looking for innovative ways to enable marginalized children living in refugee camps, slums, and warzones to thrive.
