Österreichische Galerie Belvedere

ART+COM was commissioned to design the media for the exhibition “The New Austria”. Its central element, alongside historical exhibits and selected art works, is the so called “flag trail”. This is a 250 m long, winding banner in the colours of the Austrian national flag which passes through all the exhibition rooms. With countless interactive installations, it enables visitors to take an active part in the exhibition. The visitors can press the keys of a computer quiz to take part in a history quiz game, use an ear trumpet to listen in on history or expand key terms by means of touch-sensitive interfaces. The red/white/red flag is thus a versatile medium presenting Austria’s eventful history since 1914.
