Felt the Future - Walking with Wool
Regenerative Material
Each year, every person in Germany discards five pairs of shoes – many of which are made from synthetic and non-biodegradable materials. This project examines the feasibility of a 100% wool-based shoe that adheres to circular design principles. Two prototypes, a handcrafted brogue and a CNC-milled sneaker, demonstrate the potential of wool as a sustainable alternative in footwear manufacturing. Free from synthetic components, this shoe is both compostable and recyclable.
This concept boldly challenges the standard practices of shoe manufacturing, which are creating a massive global waste problem. The efficient use of wool, combined with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, can pave the way for a paradigm shift in the footwear industry.
WINNER STATEMENTI feel deeply honored to receive this award. The undervalued heritage and remarkable properties of wool have driven my work towards circular, regenerative footwear, and I’m profoundly grateful to everyone whose support brought my vision to life, including the sheep.
