MUSEUM

We planned a "Fossil Research Training" program in the new building of the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum. The design immerses participants in the world of research through various fossil research processes. Under the concept of "touching the 'reality' of research," the program transforms specialized and academically demanding research tasks into an interactive experience. The sophisticated space design with subdued lighting creates a balanced sense of tension, and by incorporating real tools, equipment, rocks, and fossils from excavation sites used in actual research, the program offers an unprecedented, authentic experience.

iF Gold Statement

This dinosaur-themed museum studiously avoided the Hollywood treatment. This fascinating space takes its subject seriously without taking its visitors’ attention for granted. Suitable for all ages, it creates an atmosphere where visitors can appreciate what it means to research these astonishing prehistoric animals. Child-friendly but never childish, this design is so enticing that it made some of our Jury members consider a change of career!
