Golf
Passenger car
Volkswagen AGEven in the sixth generation, the Golf remains unmistakably and distinctively typical Golf. The characteristically long roof, steep hatch and strong C-pillar all remain. The precision in form and line and the face with the dominant emphasis of horizontal elements is new: as with the first Golf, the grille and the headlights create a horizontal unit. Precision and value distinguish the interior design. Sensitively designed surfaces and literal love of detail create a sense of quality, which exceeds the standard for the class. The Golf demonstrates the familiar balance in characteristics which is the basis for its success.

Good design moves - selected by Ronald Ihrig
The sixth generation of the Volkswagen Golf was still based on the technology of its predecessor, the Golf V, built from 2003 to 2008. The redesign focused on the front and rear and on changes in the detailing of the doors and roof. A superb example of how precisely defined lines and harmonious form transitions can give a product new value. The hood, which used to have a roundish, almost chubby, look was flattened and stretched using a continuous line from the A pillar along the border of the grille to the edge of the fender and to the harmonious integration of the lower air inlet. Lighting installation zones are harmonized. The transition from the edges of the headlights to the two bars of the grille is precisely designed and the Volkswagen logo is visually isolated, yet protected, like a precious gemstone in its setting.
