GS Caltex Pavilion

Expo Korea 2012

Symbol of energy: at Expo Korea 2012 the company GS Caltex is presented by a dynamic pavilion ensemble, which, at first glance, is reminiscent of an outsized rice field. 18 m high blades sway like grass in the wind. Within this Energy Field, a mirrored pavilion building is located centrally, presenting the Main Show: a 360° film draws the visitors metaphorically into the world of energy. Poetic images in minimalist black and white esthetics illustrate the interdependency between nature and human influence. In line with the Expo’s slogan “Living Ocean and Coast”, the protagonists are a pearl diver and a whale.
