HUBOT

Algae Material Based Water Purification System

Algal blooms in Lake Taihu cost the government of Wuxi, China a lot of money. The blue-green algal bloom generated by water eutrophication has damaged the aquatic environment and has negative health impacts on humans and animals. HUBOT is a remotely controlled robot that absorbs pollutants and mixes the upper and lower water layers to suppress the growth of blue-green algae. It also assists in salvage activities. A closed loop has been formed by using the waste resources to solve the problem itself.

JURY STATEMENT

What a great solution! It's green, sustainable, with a closed resource loop. It uses existing data resources to systematically monitor water bodies and reduce the formation of blue-green algae, which are toxic for humans and other animals.

WINNER STATEMENT

We are honored to be awarded the iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD 2022 for our sustainability concept to optimize redundant natural resources. Thanks to everyone who gave us support and advice in the journey of completing HUBOT. We will continue our efforts in sustainable design.
