InCampo! No Caporali

Agricolture, Human Rights

InCampo! No Caporali is an experimental project of social inclusion through agriculture initiated by Terra! in southern Italy (Apulia Region) in 2018-2019 and still going on for the second phase. In this part of Italy is urgent to create a transparent production chain, safeguarding the environment and workers. Thanks to the project and trough the allocation of bursaries, a group of foreign workers living in ghettos and "caporalato" victims, was moved to normal houses and was placed in selected organic farms. From the cooperation of all farms and trainees, was born Assay, an organic pate of broccoli and turnip greens.

JURY STATEMENT

The project convinces by its courageous and consistent approach to focus on two important problems at once: the exploitation and inhumane housing of migrant workers and how to produce food in an ecological and socially acceptable way. Both the environment and the workers are protected by promoting social inclusion and creating transparent production chains for agriculture. The organic pâté is a concrete product that confirms the successful cooperation of all farms! Well done!

WINNER STATEMENT

We are totally thrilled to have won the iF SOCIAL IMPACT PRIZE! It is a wonderful recognition for all the years of hard work, always at the side of vulnerable people. The funding will help us to spread our message and raise our voice against inequality and exploitation in the agri-food sector. Thank you very much!
