KORAIL Eurasia train concept design

Train concept design

Korail

This concept train was inspired by the dream of crossing the Eurasian continent from Korea to Europe. One of the main technical obstacles to realizing this dream is the fact that the railway tracks along the routes of the Trans-Korean Railway, the Trans-Siberian Railway, the Trans-China Railway, and Europe’s railways have different gauges or widths. To solve this problem, the train's wheel spacing was designed to be modifiable to suit the track.

iF Gold Statement

With a bold contour and precise surface definition, the visual identity of this train design expresses reliability and dynamism. This concept uses an intelligent adaptive wheel system to solve a real problem: How might a high-speed train from Korea to Europe bridge four different track widths?
