The Mangosteen Project is a public art project we launched to recycle fallen trees from the typhoon. We used the power of product design to bring broken trunks and branches back to life in the shape of chairs. As a result, the broken wood has become a creative symbol, witnessing the relationship between people and trees before and after the storm. Mangosteen not only physically changed the face of the city but also left a deep scar in the collective memory of the people of Shenzhen. In contrast to the damage caused by the typhoon, the broken wood symbol has brought bright and uplifting optimism to the community, allowing people to believe and work towards the city's rebirth.
