MEDiA
Intelligent Pillbox
As a result of the effects of aging and disease like Alzheimer’s, people who were once physically independent now have to rely on others to carry out daily tasks. Even taking several pills a day can be a challenge for shaky hands and aging minds. MEDiA is an intelligent pill dispenser, which is programmed and monitored remotely through the GSM network. When a pill is scheduled to be taken, MEDiA provides notification in advance via display/sound/vibrations so that the user can get a glass of water, if needed. Then MEDiA will pop out a lever, which the user must press in order to release the medication. It’s both intuitive and user-friendly.
After having been on the short list two times already, this year I was finally awarded with the iF award. I am deeply honored and feel all the more motivated to pursue excellence in industrial design. I hope that my concept will soon be able to benefit people as a real product.
