Bar interior

nonespace

Prior to Japanese colonization, Bupyeong, the central part of Incheon, was once a wetland and reedy swamp formed by flooding of the Gulpo river. This space known as "On The Bar" is a place for grabbing a meal, socializing, and taking a break. Three professionals (barista, bartender, and chef) act as curators and greet customers in the intimate setting. The design incorporates three themes and functions: creating a bar as a place to take a break; references to Bupyeong and its former swampy landscape; and thirdly offering locals a solution and place in this area where they can come to relax.
