PILUM
Forest monitoring probe
The bark beetle is a major cause of forest damage in northern regions. While the removal of infested trees is required by law, outbreaks are often not detected in time. This results in serious and avoidable damage to natural habitats and resources. The PILUM probe was developed to minimize this type of environmental harm through improved long-term monitoring. By detecting pheromones released by the bark beetle, both professionals and citizen scientists can collect real-time data on reproduction and distribution.
A convincing and pragmatic solution to a real problem. Different problems and perspectives are clearly described in the video, and the solution addresses these effectively.
WINNER STATEMENTI am very grateful for this award, as it provides a platform for a complex and relevant topic. The positive response to this project also strengthens my confidence in the concept and gives me hope for future implementation.
