Scientific Art Collection

In 2014, the Staatliche Kunsthalle Karlsruhe achieved a spectacular reattribution: two albums that were thought to be works of Friedrich Weinbrenner were attributed to the Italian etcher Giovanni B. Piranesi (1720–1778). The works were to be displayed on a technically and aesthetically up-to-date website, scientific content and a "light" version for interested users were to be presented on the same page. The works, short descriptive texts and technical data are easily accessible, art historians can access the content of the project in a glossary and delve deeper into the works in terms of content and visuals using specially developed tools.
