Wireless sensor

Schneider Electric Industries

HeatTag is a wireless sensor that detects when a cable overheats. It’s a one-of-a-kind sensor, capable of analyzing particles released in the air by overheated cables and busbars. It determines the type of defect by the chemical composition of the particles. In terms of design, the aim was simple and clear – form should express function. As HeatTag is an air particle sensor, ensuring a proper airflow within the device is both crucial and technically challenging. However, the technical requirements became the playground for the designers, who managed to turn its main technical feature – the "chimney" – into the product's unique aesthetic.
