Quicklook

Portable electronic magnifier

The Quicklook is a portable magnifier for visually impaired users. It magnifies text and images while reading or writing using a CCTV camera and LCD screen. The camera is housed in a separate module that rotates around an eccentric pivot which allows it to rotate upwards to the correct focal height when in use, and to fold flat when not in use. Because of this innovation, the Quicklook is about half the thickness of previous products. It also protects the lens when not in use and even allows the camera to be rotated to an angled position for handwriting. The simple controls are clearly defined using colour and tactile elements. The compact form is complemented by a style that has been influenced by personal electronic products rather than traditional medical devices, and has given a new found freedom to visually impaired users.
