Sculpted valley microtopography

Residential architecture

Kamakura's peculiar valley landform "Yato". We read the context from the peculiar site conditions and built a house that looks like it was carved out of the topography. Outdoor pilotis, courtyards, and balconies are also important void elements. By interweaving the outdoors and indoors, the boundaries are ambiguous, and it is designed so that you can feel the richness of the space by having multiple places to belong. The spirituality of Yato was expressed through the power of architecture. Construction was difficult due to its polygonal shape. I was in charge of the three roles of client, design supervisor, and construction manager.
