Interior design

Development corporation CityPorts Rotterdam was established at the beginning of 2004. In view of the fact that CityPorts Rotterdam was very keen to have its head office in the centre of its area of operations, it was decided to use the former head office building of the Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM) shipyard. Fabrique made the identity and values (“robust,” “expressive,” “open,” “involved” and “with pleasure”) of CityPorts Rotterdam its key focus, and made them tangible in the space. Another concept which played an important role was “transformation.” The interior design clearly refers to the atmosphere of the ports - rough, sturdy and apparently without scale. On the other hand, use is made of a large number of subtle elements, as a result of which the contrast and transformation become visible. The rooms on the ground floor, with their many art deco details, have been restored to their original state as much as possible, although with the addition of new furniture here and there.
