SURROGATE – Ein Magazin zum Thema Ersatz und Nachahmung

Magazine

The magazine (Swiss pamphlet) is a subjective surveying of surrogates of various forms. Surrogates are replacements for nature and reality. Focus is placed upon the interplay between plausible authenticity and the simplest simulation, the fascination with the unreal atmosphere of some constructs is to be observed and the ongoing question is: are surrogates simply 1:1 imitations of reality, or is it not possible that surrogates allow something new to be created? Four chapters provide insight into varying subject areas. The first chapter deals with the subject of landscaping constructions in water parks and zoos. Theme parks are discussed in the second chapter. The third chapter shows prostheses. Animal figures (dermoplastics) and dioramas are shown in the last chapter. The photographic imagery series and the text sections have their own significance. The wrapper made of colorful bubble wrap and the chromolux cardboard cover accentuate the magazine’s artificialness.
