This book was published on behalf of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany to introduce Liquid Crystal Window technology. Two firms of architects – realities:united from Berlin and Höweler + Yoon from Boston, along with the artist Stefan Wieland and the product designer Mathias Hahn each developed a study for new application concepts. As the title suggests, the book looks into the history and significance of transparent transitions in art, architecture and design. Putting windows, glass and applications of colored glass in a cultural context. Editorial concept by Antonia Henschel and Prof. Markus Frenzl.
